Srinagar, Feb 19 (KNO): At least 10 students of Abhedananda Home (Higher Secondary Institution for Deaf & Mute and Blind Children) Solina, Srinagar have passed 10th class with flying colours.
Manzoor Ahmad Principal of the School while talking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that 10 specially abled children of the school appeared in 10th class examination and all of them were declared pass of which results were declared on Wednesday.
The student as per Principal who crossed examination include Taseen Fayaz with 354 marks, Mujtaba Nazir Gilkar with 343 marks, Muntazir Nazir with 370 marks, Simran Sarwar with 413 marks, Jasmeena with 398 marks, syed Ifla with 399 marks, Mehavish Fayaz with 415 marks, Marousha Mohiudin with 418 marks, Shakir Ahmad Bhat with 320 marks and Abida Hanief with 318 marks.
A close relative of Mujtaba Nazir Gilkar from Nowhata Srinagar said that Mujtaba was disabled since his childhood and qualifying 10th exams is a big feat for such students.
He said that to educate such a child is possible only at schools having such facilities like Abhedananda home and such children can't cope up at normal schools.
Ghulam Mohiudin from Woyen Pampore who is father of Marousha Mohiudin told KNO that her daughter is also disabled since her childhood and to take care and bring up such children is very difficult.
He said that passing 10th class with over 80 percent marks is a proud moment for us and we are hopeful that she will continue to excel in her studies in the coming time as well.
Meanwhile, parents of especially abled children said that there are no schools available for specially abled children and no such facilities are available anywhere where such children can study well.
“The government must open at least one school in every district or zone for such children so that all disabled children can study,” they said.
They added that the government must start a scheme for specially abled children to provide them free education along with books and other necessary items—(KNO)
